Even down on the ground, the cross has power

Vasistha means very rich. Its is said that Vasistha is also one of the greatest sages emanated by Brahma to eliminate the sorrow of the human existence. Though he was born a mere mortal, suffering grief and heartache, he one day asked Brahma, how to get rid of them? And Brahma replied: You are not the body and mind; you are infinite. You are not stuck; your true nature is unlimited. You are the one. Enlightened, he and his loyal wife Arundhati became rishis and protectors of Dharma.

Vasistha initiates King Rama and had Visvamitra as a pupil. In Yoga Vasistha, he tells the student Rama that self-knowledge alone leads to the end of all physical and psychic disturbances. In the Yoga Sutra 2.33-34, Patanjali advises, “Vitarka badhane pratipaksha bhavanam”: when troublesome thoughts (vitarka) afflict (badhane), cultivate (bhavanam) opposing thoughts (pratipaksha), ie change your perspective. This is what Vasistha taught Rama to do: change your perspective from suffering and limitation to the infinite bliss of the present moment. Some scholars say that Vasistha was the first teacher of Jnana Yoga or the yoga of knowledge.

Again, the postura Vasisthasana is modern and needs to be associated with the mythical Vasistha, who possessed all wealth and wisdom. And it is to this mythical seat that physical posture, which could be translated as the richest of all, must take us. Coined by B.K.S Iyengar as a sideboard with the outside leg raised, it promotes balance and strength at the same time. My personal feeling in carrying it out is that of a firm grounding in reality totally free to reach the heights of liberation, like a fallen cross that does not lose its power.

Which bird represents our perishable nature and which represents our imperishable nature?

I see that Krauncha resembles the jivatma, wanting the liberate a perishable body, attacked by soul hunters. And I see Mayura as a being who goes beyond temporary identities, who has eyes that see from all points and, therefore, is able to see its true limitless nature.

Vasistha significa riquíssimo. Diz que é também um dos maiores sábios emanados por Brahma para eliminar a tristeza da existência humana. Embora tenha nascido como um mero mortal, sofrendo tristeza e dissabores, ele um dia perguntou a Brahma, como fazer para se livrar delas? E Brahma respondeu: Você não é o corpo e a mente; você é infinito. Você não está preso; sua verdadeira natureza é ilimitada. Tu és aquele. Iluminado, ele e sua leal esposa Arundhati se tornam rishis seguidores e protetores do dharma.

Vasistha inicia o rei Rama e tem Visvamitra como aluno. No Yoga Vasistha, ele  diz ao aluno Rama que só o  autoconhecimento leva ao fim de todos os distúrbios físicos e psíquicos. De novo, a postura Vasisthasana é moderna e precisa estar associada ao Vasistha mítico, que era dono de todas as riquezas e sabedoria. E eh a esse assento mítico que a postura física, que poderia ser traduzida como a mais rica de todas, deve nos levar. Cunhada por B. K. Iyengar como uma prancha lateral com a perna de fora levantada, promove ao mesmo tempo equilíbrio e força. Minha sensacao pessoal ao executa-la e a de um aterramento firme na realidade para alcancar as alturas da libertacao, como uma cruz tombada mas que nao perde seu poder.

QUESTIONAMENTO DO MEU PROFESSOR CARLOS EDUARDO : Qual passaro representa a nossa natureza perecível e qual representa nossa natureza imperecível?  

Eu vejo que Krauncha se assemelha ao jivatma, querendo a libertacao de um corpo perecivel, atacado pelos cacadores de alma. E vejo Mayura como um ser que vai alem das identidades temporarias, que tem olhos que veem por todos os pontos e, portanto, eh capaz de enxergar a sua verdadeira natureza ilimitada.
